Whooper Swan

Whooper
© Sharon Whitley

I just had to have a go at painting this Whooper from Gary's beautiful photograph which he took at WWT Martin Mere on Sunday. They're not posted to his blog yet but will be very soon I'm sure!

  2. A very striking pose, beautifully captured Sharon. The colours for the shadow on the neck work so well.

  7. I know it is silly but I didn't know swans could fly! I thought they would be too heavy to get off the ground. Anyway, this is a beautiful painting and I do so love how the shadows on his neck appear. I think this is an awesome composition!

  16. Sharon this is truely fantastic. It reminds me of the old masters like Caravaggio's chiaroscuro technique (light against dark). If you don't know it, look it up as you will definitely see a likeness and it will show you how far you have come. It really is fabulous stuff. I count myself lucky to have seen your development from the beginning. What next I ask? xx
