Watercolour Withdrawal

Sharp Edge
by Sharon Whitley the rambling artist
Even after one bash at the pencils (see last post)  I was already getting withdrawals from the watercolours so just had to do a quick watercolour of my fave mountain ridge in the Lakes - Sharp Edge.   I went with the colours in the photo ref meaning lots of greens - yikes!  Don't you just love greens - anyone who knows the secret to great greens please tell!

  3. This is a fabulous mountain landscape, Sharon! The greens are great as Judy has said. The secret with mixing greens is to just practice as much as you can. Some use ready made greens as a base, others mix from primaries ... I do both! Single pigment colours, preferably transparent ones, give the best looking greens.

    1. Thanks Michael - I tend to do both as well - I mostly use sap green as a base and sometimes mix my own greens - I'll remember that about single pigment colours thank you. Glad you like the landscape, I fancy doing more like this one

    1. I'm pleased you like the bg - wanted to keep it soft to keep the focus on the ruggedness of the ridge so hope that's worked
