Life is just a bowl of cherries

Life is just a bowl of cherries
by Sharon Whitley the Rambling Artist

Life is just a bowl of cherries, you work you save you worry so, but you can't take your dough when you go, go, go, .....so live and laugh, laugh and love, live and laugh at it all ..... (Lew Brown and Ray Henderson)

I love cherries, especially freshly picked from the tree - I was in Greece at the end of May with a group of friends to climb Mount Olympus and in the grounds of the villa we stayed at there was a cherry tree - scrumptious!!!!!    When I painted these cherries a couple of months ago I called it 'Life is just a Bowl of Cherries' and then wondered where that phrase actually came from  - well let me tell you -  apparently (according to google!) it was the title of a song in the 1930s........ I read the lyrics (as you do - as if I haven't got a mountain of ironing and the tea to make!!!) but glad I did cos the lyrics give a nice example of how we should try and live our lives don't you think........live and laugh, laugh and love, try not to worry too much about the things we haven't got but make the most of what we have.....and the time we're here - be happy!!!!   - I love that philosophy.  Mind you we also use the exact same phrase for the opposite....... Hi Sharon, how are you?  - well the alarm didn't go off this morning, the kids were late for school, I was late for work, the car broke down, had to pay a fortune to get it towed home, then the cat ate the dinner - life is just a bowl of cherries!!!   I actually did have a cat who ate the dinner once - I'd left a chicken out to rest and walked in later to find the cat happily munching away on what was going to be our Sunday Lunch - life is just a bowl of cherries - anyway enough of my rambling for today, enjoy the painting - off to make the tea and was going for a walk up Moel Famau but guess what?  It's raining again  ho hum........x

As always your comments are most welcome x

  3. Hello Sharon:) I will save you and the rest of the world from my bowl of sherries but it isn't much different from yours:)
I love your painting. Love the red you've used for your cherries and the tablecloth is perfect. Very nice!

    Ciao, ciao, Floriana
