Barn Owl complete

I've made a bit of room in my blogger storage which such keep me going another few posts before I have to pay for extra storage (very annoying!!) I'm now resizing photos before I upload to minimize space - thanks again for the advice I was given in the last post.

    1. Very nice. I've enjoyed going through your blog, you've got a great way of handling the watercolors. I'm still trying to get loose with it.

    1. Thank you Blaga - there actually isn't that much detail in the bark, just a wash of different colours and darker areas added on top but gives a nice effect

  10. Your blog is lovely, both your paintings and photographs reflect your love of nature. I always enjoy stopping and watching others working, your display at the shopping centre looks really interesting, I am sure you had lots of admirers and compliments.

    1. it was the first time I'd painted in public, it was a bit strange at first but the day flew by and it was lovely talking to people, especially the children who stopped to ask questions

  11. your owl is gorgeous and I love the bark effect you got with the tree. I'm glad you mentioned the whole storage and paying thing as I got it the other night when I tried to upload a photo from my pc and hadn't a clue what it was for! Seems a bit cheeky to advertise Blogger as free then charge you for uploading too many photos!!

    1. hmm it seems they changed the whole storage thing back in April and people are starting to get the messages now but I certainly wasn't aware of it when I created my blog at the end of June - it seems there are ways around it and I'm really grateful for the advice I've been given

  12. I loved seeing the progression of the owl to the finished piece. How neat is THAT!
Great background. The perfect use of watercolor... for the leaves especially.
Interesting about Blogger and the images. Forewarned is forearmed, as they say. Thanks.

    1. Thank you so much Julie, you always leave such lovely comments - and yes be careful with the size of the pictures you upload, I'm currently going back through everything and resizing to reclaim some space - a very tedious task!

  22. Hi Sharon. So nice meet you. Thanks for your visit and for following my blog. I enjoyed seeing some of your own artwork here and admired you for painting in the mall. Not sure i could do that! :) Your paintings are beautiful and i look forward to seeing your Black Lab when you are able to post it. I love painting dogs too and shall begin one right away. Love the Lake District too. Spent some time there as my sister in law lives in Workington. Cheers!

    1. It was ok painting in the mall, I had Gary there with me and to be honest shoppers were more interested in the birds of prey on display than watching me paint so I didn't feel too self conscious! Your sister in law is very lucky living in Workington so close to all those fells!

  23. Dear Sharon - I ran into the same problem as you did - I have had some trouble too with E-blogger and have been to web several times to leave a comment but kept getting an error box. Finally got into it tonight. Your owl is wonderful. Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a warm thought. Take care my friend and have a great week.

  29. I've recently had the same message as you Sharon `used up my space allowance' I tried deleting many older posts with photogarphs but it made no difference. I was reluctant to `buy' more space because of the payment system being in dollars, although cost was not much and I'm reluctant to set up monthly direct debits.

However I have found a way round this, which if complicated and a hassle does work. Download Pixcasa 3 and join Google plus. You can then upload photos into Picassa then Google + set up albums and it resizes them for the blog at no cost - as many as you like. It is a bit of a fiddle but works...

    1. thank you Peter - I'll look into that - I've gone back and reduced the size of the photos in my most recent posts which has freed up some space and will continue to work back and reduce earlier photos, but that sounds like a good way to go forward thank you

  31. Interesting two posts about resizing Sharon. I haven't come across it yet but I have been resizing photos from my PC for a while. Not for space reasons but for copyright. If the photo is smaller it's harder to download and get a good clean copy I think. So another reason to downsize photos. Love your owl by the way but you know that already.

  32. What a beautiful painting! I'm vissting from Artists in Blogland.:)
Thanks for sharing the information about re-sizing... I also had the same message and have been working to avoid paying for more space. It will be easy to do when I'm watermarking the photos... now that I know about it.
