Time for new boots

These boots were made for walking

In the last few big walks I've done I've found that I've ended up with pretty sore feet which I can only put down to the boots I'm wearing - they've served me well but think it may be time to get some new ones.  I love my boots, they have travelled over many mountains and walked many miles, been soaked through on many occasions but managed to keep my feet reasonably dry and they've even doubled as a post walk bottle holder.......

CHEERS!!

I won't be able to bring myself to throw them away - they hold too many memories - so if anyone has any ideas what I can do with them ....... then please let me know ..... maybe I could stick a plant pot in them and use them to display a couple of nice geraniums!!  All I know is they're just too sentimental to chuck out!!

Strawberries? - well it is Wimbledon!

Well it's actually not raining and is a warm and sunny day today - gasp!!  How long it will last I do not know - so a summery post is in order today - and seeing as though Andy Murray has made it to the Wimbledon final tomorrow I think some strawberries are in order - my little tribute and my own little way of wishing him luck - I think he's handled the pressure the public have put on him very well  - having every move scrutinised must be hard and as far as I'm concerned he has nothing to prove but of course would be thrilled for him if he wins so go Andy!!!!  ........ and I hope it doesn't rain in London tomorrow!!!!  Enjoy the strawberries fellow bloggers ... sorry I can't offer the real thing ... yummy!

Life is just a bowl of cherries

Life is just a bowl of cherries
by Sharon Whitley the Rambling Artist

Life is just a bowl of cherries, you work you save you worry so, but you can't take your dough when you go, go, go, .....so live and laugh, laugh and love, live and laugh at it all ..... (Lew Brown and Ray Henderson)

I love cherries, especially freshly picked from the tree - I was in Greece at the end of May with a group of friends to climb Mount Olympus and in the grounds of the villa we stayed at there was a cherry tree - scrumptious!!!!!    When I painted these cherries a couple of months ago I called it 'Life is just a Bowl of Cherries' and then wondered where that phrase actually came from  - well let me tell you -  apparently (according to google!) it was the title of a song in the 1930s........ I read the lyrics (as you do - as if I haven't got a mountain of ironing and the tea to make!!!) but glad I did cos the lyrics give a nice example of how we should try and live our lives don't you think........live and laugh, laugh and love, try not to worry too much about the things we haven't got but make the most of what we have.....and the time we're here - be happy!!!!   - I love that philosophy.  Mind you we also use the exact same phrase for the opposite....... Hi Sharon, how are you?  - well the alarm didn't go off this morning, the kids were late for school, I was late for work, the car broke down, had to pay a fortune to get it towed home, then the cat ate the dinner - life is just a bowl of cherries!!!   I actually did have a cat who ate the dinner once - I'd left a chicken out to rest and walked in later to find the cat happily munching away on what was going to be our Sunday Lunch - life is just a bowl of cherries - anyway enough of my rambling for today, enjoy the painting - off to make the tea and was going for a walk up Moel Famau but guess what?  It's raining again  ho hum........x

As always your comments are most welcome x

Coffee Time

Aah don't you just love a nice cuppa when you get home from a long day at work - well I say long day at work - I'm lucky enough to finish work at 3.15 every day so I'm only a part timer in some people's books!! It's been one of those days today though and I couldn't wait to get the kettle on when I got home  - aaaahhhh, sit down, relax .......and a quick hello to you all in blog land and then start all over again - make tea, take kids to lessons, pick them up etc.. etc..   you know where I'm coming from - hopefully it will stop raining before I go back out - what on earth is happening with our weather here in UK - crazy!!! Then later hope to finish painting the lions which I started last night - have to admit I'm feeling a bit rusty as not been painting as much as usual these past few months but need to get painting to get myself out of this slump I'm in.   In the meantime let me share a cup of coffee with you all.................................
